Lakota West dominates Fairfield
FAIRFIELD (TRO) — Lakota West dominated Fairfield 12-0 on Friday.
Lakota West’s offense exploded early, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second. The Firebirds continued to add to their lead with four runs in the third and one in the fifth.
Landon Holt led the Lakota West (7-0, 6-0 GMC) offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Braydon Johnson also had a strong performance, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Lakota West’s pitching was equally impressive. Adrian Smith pitched three scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking out four.
Fairfield (2-6, 1-4 GMC) struggled to generate any offense, managing only three hits for the entire game.
Badin rolls Alter
HAMILTON (TRO) — Badin defeated Alter 10-0 on Friday. Badin (5-3, 3-0 GCL Coed) scored five runs in the first inning.
Badin’s James Brink had two hits, two runs and one RBI; Kade Bowling had two hits, two runs and one RBI; Cooper Ollis had two hits, two runs and two RBIs; and Chase Luebbe of Badin had one hit, one run and one RBI.
Joe Maloney started for Alter (4-5, 2-2 GCL Coed) and took the loss. Braden Dirheimer started for Badin and earned the win.
Monroe defeats Franklin
MONROE (TRO) — Monroe defeated Franklin 9-6 on Friday.
Monroe (4-2, 2-0 SWBL) scored four runs in the first inning and added two more in the fifth to take a commanding lead. Franklin (4-4, 0-2 SWBL) attempted a comeback, scoring four runs in the fourth, but Monroe’s offense proved too much.
Drew Heagen led Monroe’s offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Joe Tarin also contributed with two hits.
Zach Beeson started on the mound for Franklin, allowing four runs in three innings. Drew Heagen pitched three innings for Monroe. RJ Schwab earned the win, pitching the final four innings.
Explosive offense leads Talawanda past Northwest
CINCINNATI (TRO) — Talawanda’s offense exploded for 14 runs on 17 hits, overwhelming Northwest 14-4 on Friday.
The Brave have won two if their last three games after starting the season with five straight losses.
Hunter Griffin homered and drove in five runs for Talawanda (2-6, 2-0 SWOC) , while Nathaniel Iden reached base in all his plate appearances and scored four runs. Talawanda’s Austin Puckett earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings.
Northwest (1-3, 0-2 SWOC) struggled on the mound, allowing 14 runs, and its offense managed only two hits.

Softball
Badin blanks Alter in softball rout
KETTERING (TRO) — Badin unleashed an offensive barrage, overwhelming Alter 16-0 in five innings on Friday.
Badin’s bats were hot from the start, scoring two runs in the first inning and exploding for eight in the second. The Rams continued their dominance, adding five runs in the third and one in the fourth.
The Badin (6-1, 4-0 GCL Coed) offense was led by freshman Kendall Ponatoski, who went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI. Sophomore Jessie Giuliano also had a strong performance, going 3-for-3 with one run and two RBIs. Erica Kuhnash-Westerbeck, a senior, contributed three runs and one RBI, going 3-for-4.
Badin’s pitching was equally dominant. Sophomore Phebe Kiefer started the game, pitching three scoreless innings, striking out seven and allowing no hits. Freshman Kendall Ponatoski closed the game pitching two scoreless innings, striking out six and allowing no hits.
Alter (1-7, 0-3 GCL Coed) struggled to generate any offense, managing just three hits in the game. Grace Dungan pitched all five innings for Alter allowing 16 runs on 17 hits.
