OXFORD — Former Miami RedHawks Kolby Borders, Brett Gabbert and Cade McDonald have all accepted invites to NFL mini-camps.
Borders will join the Denver Broncos, Gabbert is with the Miami Dolphins and McDonald will compete with both the Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens.
Borders started 37 games in his Miami career along the offensive line. He was part of a unit that helped produce back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers and earned Miami’s Strength Award in 2024.

Gabbert, one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Miami history, won 33 games during his career. He ranks third in program history with 10,814 yards passing and is second in touchdowns (80). He is a three-time All-MAC performer, including first-team accolades in 2024. He threw for 492 yards in 2021 versus Ohio, the third-highest mark in school history and was the 2019 MAC Freshman of the Year.
McDonald played the past two seasons with the RedHawks, recording 80 catches for 986 yards and six scores. He also averaged 9.7 yards per punt return throughout his career with Miami and earned second-team All-MAC as a returner in 2023. The Michigan State transfer was named Miami’s Offensive Skill Player of the Year in 2024 and opened the year with back-to-back 100-yard performances versus Northwestern (105) and Cincinnati (135).
