Malik Verdon has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons, Iowa State announced Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder spent four seasons with the Hawkeyes and departs to the NFL a year early.
Verdon competed at Moeller and Hamilton high schools.
Over his time in Ames, Verdon became an integral piece to the Cyclones’ success, and was a standout during the team’s 11-3 season that ended with a Pop-Tarts Bowl win.
Verdon earned second-team All-Big 12 honors during his final year, as he finished with 76 tackles (2nd on team), 3.5 TFL’s, a sack, one interception and two forced fumbles.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native finished with 134 tackles in 27 career games, with three picks, 10 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
