HAMILTON — In the second year of the Jake Turner era, Hamilton Big Blue’s boys basketball team has done something it hasn’t done since the 2019-20 season — opened this up with two straight victories. Big Blue’s two wins would come against the GWOC’s Miamisburg and GMC foe Colerain.
The Big Blue dominated in their season opener against Miamisburg. They started off the first quarter tied 10-10, then dropped 20 points in the second quarter, as they entered the half with a 30-20 lead. Hamilton ran away with the game from there, leading 50-26 after 3 quarters. The final score was 58-34.
Hamilton’s scoring was led by sophomore Jordon Johnson-Perdomo, who dropped an impressive 21 points. Chase Moak came off of the bench and had nine points for the Blue, followed by Elijah Jones with eight points, Knox Mills with six, Quinton Simms with five and RJ Wilson with three points.
The Big Blue had a break of nine days between games, where at the end of that, they traveled to Colerain to take on the Cardinals.
Like last game, it would be a slow start for the Big Blue, as they would end the first quarter down to the Cardinals 15-13. Then the Big Blue one again dominated the middle game, as they entered halftime with a score of 35-26. Then the Big Blue also dominated in the third quarter as well, as they went up 56-40 over the Cardinals. The Big Blue would slow down during the fourth quarter, which would lead them to get a dominant win for their first win against Colerain with a final score of 68-51.
Jordan Johnson-Perdomo led the scoring for the Big Blue with 20 points, followed closely by RJ Wilson who had 18 points of his own. Quinton Simms had nine points on the night followed by Jordan Bryant with eight and Knox Mills with six points.
The Big Blue this week have two tough tests in the GMC, as they hit the road to face the defending GMC champs in the Princeton Vikings on Dec. 9 and return home to face the Lakota West Firebirds on Dec. 12.
