HAMILTON — The Hamilton High School softball team went off Monday by crushing four home runs to capture its first Greater Miami Conference win of the season by taking down Sycamore 5-3 at the Big Blue softball field.
The game would start off well defensively for Hamilton as junior pitcher Emili Schappacher would go in order taking down the Aviators 1-2-3.
The home run barrage began early with freshman Alexis Dillard going yard to give the Big Blue a 1-0 lead.
In the third inning Schappacher would herself go yard for her first home run of the season, extending Big Blue’s lead to 2-0.
Sycamore put the game within one run off of a wild pitch that sent a runner home.
Then the Big Blue would have a big fifth inning with both Sierra Hoyte and Dillard going yard to give Big Blue a 5-1 lead.
Sycamore’s final two runs came in the sixth and seventh innings as another wild pitch exchange sent a runner across the plate and a solo home run in the seventh rounded out the scoring.
Schappacher ended her night with 12 strikeouts — her season high — and giving up three runs two hits on three hits with only one being earned.
Chloe Brock, Brennan Davis and Reese Thieken also had hits for Hamilton.
Hamilton raised its record to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Greater Miami Conference with an 11-1 victory over Princeton on Wednesday.
Hamilton travels to Middletown on Thursday, April 10.
